Montague Charter Academy:
Dear Students, Parent(s), and Guardian(s),
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Mrs. Medina and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our class. My goal is to have a successful school year accomplishing the Common Core Standards.
Attendance is crucial and enables your child to be successful in class. If your child misses several days of school, it will affect their progress. As a parent, it is important that you send a note the following day explaining the reason why your child was absent. In addition, it is not acceptable for a student to come late frequently. If this happens often, the time your child is missing will add up and significantly affect his or her progress.
As a teacher, I will establish a positive learning environment. Students are informed of class expectations. Students are to demonstrate respectful behavior. I will be using Whole Brain Teaching this year. The rules are the following:
Class Dojo: Please sign up for Class Dojo by checking your email. I will be also sending codes.
Homework will be assigned every night, particularly language arts and mathematics. Please check your child’s homework every night and sign your name in your child’s homework agenda. In addition, all students are expected to read at least thirty minutes a night. I encourage all parents to listen to their children read aloud (this will build their fluency). Please do not sign homework agenda unless all homework is completed including reading.
The following day, I will check the homework and sign their agenda. If I did not sign their agenda, the homework was not complete or turned in.
Students are allowed to bring a small, healthy snack (fruit, crackers, veggies, half a sandwich). Students may bring water to drink. NO juice, soda, or chips.
At Montague Charter Academy we have a uniform policy. Students are required to wear a uniform everyday.
Home/ School Supplies:
Please supply your child with the following school supplies
School: A backpack (large enough to carry books), 10 mechanical pencils, 50 pencils (that will be shared with the class), 1 pen (blue, green, or purple), 1 box of baby wipes to clean their desk, and a box of tissue.
Home: Pencils, paper, crayons, glue, and dictionary.
Communication: Please download ClassDojo app
Teacher/ Parent Communication
Please send a note with your child or contact the school office at 899-0215 to make an appointment. In order to make this year successful for all of us, we must be able to talk with each other. You can also email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or send me a message on the ClassDojo app. If we work together, the children will achieve more and have a better educational experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read this important letter.
Let’s have a great year!
